Great Ride, thanks for organizing. Next time, we'll work out the timing so there is no excuses for the DC folks. Just kidding, glad everyone made it home safe and sound.

sounds awesome! it wouldve totally killed me but i'm still pretty intent on doing it at some point this summer.

after meeting the kids from illini4000 (www.illini4000.org) when they crashed at our house, i realized you just have to go for it. many of them had never done any distance biking and were now biking an average of 85 miles a day to get across the country by august. it seemed really rewarding for them to just know that they were doing it.

So, the other DCists bailed at some point on the ride back? That storm was pretty heavy at times; would have sucked a bit to have been out there under those conditions.

I ended up with 73 miles, since I rode from home in Arlington out and then back home from Kathy's place in Shirlington.

Nice ride, well-executed (other than the late starts, ha); thanks for putting it together. Next one leaves earlier and spends more quality time in the bars...

quick follow up:
Jon made it back to Elkridge OK before the darkness and storms hit.
Steve and Kathy got a ride from Baltimore back to DC
The rest of the DC crew made it to mile 75 before the threats of darkness and thunderstorms thwarted their plans.

Next year (if we do it again), I'll have to figure out something better for the departure times so no one has to get home too late. sorry guys.

This looks rad! If I wasn't 11 hours away I would be all about this (well and if I wasn't still recovering from going down at Lumberjack). I might have to hold on to the cue sheet for the next time I'm in town with the road bike-who knows maybe we can talk you into using the Orbea...

Rock on!

P.S. you should check out the ODRAM (one day ride across michigan) -maybe we can get you out to Michigan yet

Yo, CCV, can you give me a little link love on your blog? I'll do likewise.

I'll be doing the M2M ride from DC on Sunday on a fixie, natch. Oh, and I'd love a pin, if you can spare it.

See you there.
